I’m really starting to miss you guys! It is important, though, to limit physical activity when there’s smoke in the air. Running in this type of air is not much different than smoking and we know that’s no good!

Make sure you’re limiting outdoor physical activity during these days off. If you’ve got a treadmill, stationary bike or access to an indoor pool those are great ways to keep active until the air clears. Even the Wii is a good way to keep active! You can always keep up the core work and stretching too.

Until we meet again, here are some things we need to review…

    PICTURES

You may have noticed that we don’t have a new video this week. We need pictures to keep the videos coming. I’m sure there will be plenty of cameras once the meets begin, but why not break in the old camera by bringing it to practice. If you’ve got pictures, please bring them to practice on a CD or jump-drive!

    WATER, WATER, WATER

I can’t stress this enough! Especially with temperatures well over 100 degrees! You should be drinking several bottles of water a day. Why not get a re-usable water canteen and keep filling at the water fountain. Just drink, drink, drink!

    PRE-SEASON FUNDRAISER

Our pre-season fundraiser is one week from this Saturday. Kids and parents are invited to run either the 2k or 5k distance. There is a small fee for this race that will benefit post-season athletes. Check out the flyer in the miscellaneous section of our website at www.xc.scvaa.com.

    SPIRIT WEAR

We’ve extended the order deadline until Saturday, 9/5 due to our cancelled practices. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to show your Warrior pride!

As always, if you have any other questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to see me at practice or give me a call at 661-296-3059.

    Yours in Running,

    Coach Darren
